Abstract
Portrait of Major General G.A. French taken in about 1875. French was born in Rosscommon, Ireland in 1840, moved to Canada in 1870 and took over Command of the North West Mounted Police. After being in Canada French continued to rise up the military chain of command, commanding imperial forces in Australia from 1900 to 1905. French eventually became a Major General and died in London, England in 1921.
