Abstract
Black and real photograph of the seven grain elevators located at Meadow Lake. In 1928, the Business Directory states, Saskatchewan produced "the greatest Wheat crop produced in any state or province in the whole world" with 321 million bushels. In 1952, the wheat crop was 35% higher, amounting to 435 million bushels with an average yield of 26.5 bushels per acre. Saskatchewan was producing 60% of Canada's total wheat production. Saskatchewan's 1953 per capita income was 12 per cent above the national average. Meadow Lake's seven grain elevators were handling 3 million bushels, the largest output for any one community in Canada.
