Abstract
Image of the Clinton Lewis Organ. Written on the exhibit write-up: "This organ was purchased in the late 1800's from Montgomery Ward, in the U.S.A., by the Lewis children's maternal grandmother with the hope that the eldest boys would learn to play it. At the time of purchase, the family lived in the Bear Paw Mountains (that butt against Havre) of Montana. The organ came to Canada in a covered wagon, when the Lewis family moved to their homestead North of Eastend, in the Klintonel District. Since the Lewis home not only was the local Post office, but sported a large living-room, it served as a meeting place for many community activities where this organ played for dances, church services, and musical entertainments. In 1958, Maude Studer, of Maple Creek, inherited the organ, upon the passing of Louisa Lewis, before it came into the possession of Carolyn Wehr, who brought it to the Eastend Historical Museum to exhibit."
