Explanatory note pasted onto photo: "Veneer emerging from the dyer <sic> where it has been subjected to a temperature of 350°. The dryer has 8 levels or lines on which the veneer is carried. It is 70' long and has two circulating fans each of 63" diameter and each is powered by a 125 hp. electric motor. The speed at which veneer passes through the dryer is determined by the moisture content and may take anywhere from 6 minutes to 28 minutes. As the veneer drops from the dryer it is carried by belt through the machine shown at left which automatically registers the moisture content. If the moisture remaining in the veneer is above 4% or 5%, the machine marks the particular sheet with a red dot. Such pieces of veneer are returned from a second trip through the dryer."
