1895- Indian Agent Rev. McDonald explains importance of Maligomish Church to Department of Indian Affairs

Rev. Ronald McDonald, Indian Agent requested that the government (Department of Indian Affairs) provide funding to rebuild the church at Maligomish after it was ruined by a storm. McDonald stated that the church was central to bringing the Mi'kmaq together at Maligomish annually, and offered an opportunity to "teach and instruct" the Mi'kmaq in spiritual and temporal ways.
