Men's Barracks #3 - This was one of the largest original structures erected at Battleford post. Construction likely began in 1876 but was probably not finished until 1878. James Walker, first commanding officer of the post described the building as, "...all shingled and walls chinked and plastered." In 1887 only the kitchen and dining room were in use as the actual barracks would have been very cold in the winter and the need to have them lathed and plastered was great. This type of work would have been done in the summer, thus the men would ned other accommodations. The building was divided into many sections, including a men's quarters, a kitchen, dining room and guard room which was later replaced by our present one. Single Officer's Quarters/Harness Room - This building was begun in 1876 and by September it was half-completed. It was a log building, likely of Red River construction. The building also served as Quartermaster's Store and Post office. The front part of the building was designated as the Orderly Room. In later years the building was used more exclusively as an Orderly Room and harness Room. The building was destroyed in 1890.
