Note
Surgeon's Residence - was built in 1890. The position of surgeon carried enough prestige that it warranted separate quarters. The house was a roomy two-storey, stove heated, frame construction building. It did not have the gothic style architecture decorating the exterior such as with Commanding Officer's home, however, from the air, one could detect a cross shape visible in the roof line which may suggest eclectic influence. In the main part of the building, there were two large, ground floor rooms 12'x15'. These were most likely dining and living rooms. At the rear was a kitchen 7'9"x12'4" with smaller rooms on either side. The upstairs included two large chamber rooms 12'x15' and one smaller room. The outside walls were covered with clapboard and the roof was sawn, unfinished shingles.
