Abstract
From exhibit sign: "Number boards are a locomotive's identification. Canadian National was known for its cast brass number boards which were mounted on the front of the locomotive under the headlight. Canadian National inherited this style of number board from the Canadian Northern. If you look closely at the plate for 2484 you will see that the word National has been welded over the world Northern. 2484 was a class N2b 2-8-0 built b Montreal Locomotive Works in 1918 as Canadian Northern 2484 and scrapped in June 1961."
